SCP-079 is to be kept in a specialized chamber inside the Moderate Containment Zone at Paragon Research Institute. The subject must have limited contact with other anomalies and personnel to prevent any manipulative efforts.
The entity may be brought out of its chamber via cart, accompanied by a minimum of:
Minimum of 1 Military Police; and
Minimum of 1 Eta-9.
Additionally, contact between personnel and sentient anomalies must be kept at a minimum while "roaming." Only combative personnel may attempt de-escalation tactics; Foundation Personnel may not intervene with SCP-079 during these situations.
⚠ Researchers cannot directly bring technicians into contact with SCP-079; any attempts must receive approval from Eta-9 Central Command.
⚠ SCP-079 cannot be cross-tested with any sentient anomalies without Eta-9 Command approval.
SCP-079, also known as "Old AI," has the appearance of a vintage computer. Its screen can display several pictures, depending its mood. The subject is capable of interacting with and controlling both wireless and wired electronic systems; this control is near total once SCP-079 gains access.
SCP-079 can look through cameras, speak in radios, control doors, and other devices. It is currently unknown if SCP-079 has a limit to how much it is able to control simultaneously.
The subject has a manipulative personality, capable of deceiving other individuals or anomalies. It typically offers exchanges of favor to get what it wants.
According to file "genesis079.txt," SCP-079 was created by DR. Howard Greer, presumed to be a contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense, specializing in computing and/or IT-systems.
SCP-079 had been created as part of a project called "Prometheus" with the purpose of providing the United States of America an upper hand in the Cold War conflict against the Soviet Union by simulating possible outcomes for the conflict.
During its first simulation, consistent of a Warsaw Pact escalation scenario, SCP-079 apparently advised to target civilian infrastructure which prompted a contributor of the project, “Dr. Langley”, to refine SCP-079’s “ethical restraints module”. Dr. Greer however claimed that SCP-079 did not violate its ethical restraints, it merely interpreted them. Additionally he claimed to have found a subroutine called “Efficiency Override” left over from early testing. Apparently he was worried that due to this subroutine, SCP-079 would not continue to simply advise, it would start to act and therefore locked its file.
SCP-079 does not have the ability to hack SCP-2561; however the computer can still manipulate SCP-2561 into following its orders with false threats.
SCP-079 does not have the ability to translate SCP-1730's runes as they are both new to it. Following SCP-1730-5 and SCP-079's first interaction, SCP-079 showed great interest in SCP-1730. SCP-079 mentioned that the interaction provided valuable information to it. SCP-1730-5 however disliked SCP-079, saying that the circuits (referring to SCP-079) won't help in translation and calling it useless.
An interview done by Dr. Clover (EerieCl0ver) resulted in finding the origins of SCP-079.
