This document outlines the basic information about the Scientific Department.
The Scientific Department is a civil department engaged in anomalous research and unconventional techniques. Through the Scientific Department, Paragon Research Institute has learned of various anomalies' abilities, containment strategies, and much more. Without the Scientific Department's contributions, the Foundation could not function.
How do I join the Scientific Department?
Pass an application for the Scientific Department within the Application Center.
What does the Scientific Department do?
The Scientific Department's job is to research anomalies, chemicals, and other anomalous factors. This is achieved through tests, interviews, and other duties.
How do I contact Scientific Command?
You can contact Scientific Command by:
Joining Paragon's main Discord server;
Creating a ticket in #open-a-ticket under "Department Tickets" and clicking the Scientific Department option; and
You will be prompted to fill out a pop-up. Type as much relevant information and attach evidence if necessary.

Research Director | Security Class-4 (Limit: 1)
The Research Director is responsible for all Scientific Department operations and is the executive lead of all administrative functions.
Promotion Requirements:
Get handpicked for the position by the Department Overseer.
Users who have been selected for this position are highly trusted, recognized, and experienced members of the community.
Board of Research | Security Class-3 (Limit: 4)
Board of Research members are considered High Command and have several responsibilities such as maintaining and expanding the department, suggesting significant legislative changes, and executing tasks given by the Research Director.
Promotion Requirements:
Get handpicked for the position by the Research Director.
Board of Research members are handpicked based on multiple factors such as hard work, diligence and so on.
Research Supervisor | Security Class-2 (Limit: 8)
Research Supervisors are considered Medium Command and demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication to the department. As part of their role, they are also considered the primary administrative board of the department. Research Supervisors have the authority to vote and propose legislation, along with delegating tasks assigned by their superiors.
Promotion Requirements:
Get handpicked for the position by the Board of Research.
Research Instructor | Security Class-2 (Limit: 20)
Research Instructors are considered Junior Command and role models for other department members. At this stage of their career, their responsibilities shift to leading projects, organizing departmental events, and more.
Promotion Requirements:
Handpicked at the discretion of High Command or apply for the Command Academy; and
Pass the probationary command phase.
Senior Researcher | Security Class-1
Senior Researchers are personnel who have gained experience in the Scientific Department and are now ready to conduct testing on moderate-risk SCPs with fewer restrictions.
Promotion Requirements:
Complete three A+ advanced tests;
Log twenty-four hours on-site;
Be in the department for two weeks; and
Gain x350 research points.
Researcher | Security Class-1
Researchers possess solid testing experience and are permitted to conduct tests up to the Moderate Containment Zone. They may also host lectures and mass tests.
Promotion Requirements:
Complete six basic tests;
Log twelve hours on-site;
Be in the department for one week; and
Gain x250 research points.
Junior Researcher | Security Class-1
Junior Researchers are advancing personnel who can perform testing on moderate-risk anomalies with fewer restrictions, conduct SCP-173 containment cleanings, and conduct advanced tests and research projects.
Promotion Requirements:
Complete four basic tests;
Obtain the Chemical Research Certification;
Log six hours on-site; and
Gain x150 research points.
Assistant Researcher | Security Class-1
Assistant Researchers are graduates of Research Students who have proven their foundational knowledge and competency. They are trusted to perform interviews, perform follow-ups, and use chemicals.
Promotion Requirements:
Attend and pass a Student Seminar;
Complete one basic test;
Have two hours on-site; and
Pass the Research Student Exam with a 13/15.
⚠️ Research Students will have a month to complete their requirements or face exile.
Research Student | Security Class-0
Research Students are newly accepted department members learning the fundamental of the Scientific Department. They can perform basic tests.
Promotion Requirements:
Successfully apply through the Scientific Department Application Center.
