SCP-409, KETER, BIOHAZARD, INFECTOUS 409
SCP-409// "Crystal"
SCP-409// "Crystal"
SCP-409 is to be housed within the Biohazard Containment Wing under constant lock and key outside of testing. No personnel without hazmat equipment are authorized to interact with the main crystal under any circumstances.
A minimum of two Eta-9 "Wardens" operatives are to be escorting any and all activities involving SCP-409. In the event of a containment breach, any infected are to be burned with flamethrowers, and any growths are to be destroyed immediately with explosives or high-caliber weaponry.
Visually, the main source of SCP-409 is a large crystal resembling quartz. Upon contact with the anomaly, any matter, organic or not, will immediately begin to crystallize, seemingly replicating itself onto the affected person. Anyone affected by SCP-409 is also infectious and must be terminated as soon as possible. SCP-409 is capable of sprouting out of inorganic matter, creating an infection source that can stick to the floor, walls, and ceilings.
Infected persons, designated SCP-409-2, become highly resistant to ballistic damage, although CS Gas is notably effective against still-moving instances of SCP-409-2. and gain three distinct traits:
Increased strength: Cause heavy damage and infect people with a downward swing.
Explosion: Cause a small explosion around themselves, infecting any nearby personnel and spreading crystals.
Lunge: Dash a fairly large distance in a short period to catch up to fleeing persons.
The termination of infected personnel does not stop the spread, as their corpse will persist unless they are shattered by gunfire.
