PREFACE
The Punitive Handbook's purpose is to inform and regulate members of the Scientific Command team on various infractions that may take place within the Scientific Department.
PUNISHMENT TYPES
Minor Punishments (Research Instructor+)
Verbal Warning: Verbal warnings are used for non-serious violations, mostly given to new and inexperienced department members. Verbal warnings may also be used if the violation is more serious, yet lacks the evidence. These notices have a disciplinary relevance for three weeks on the offender's record.
Point Deduction/Removal: Point deductions/removals are used primarily related to test submissions, such as plagiarizing or using AI on a test report. Point deductions/removals have a disciplinary relevance for three weeks on the offender's record.
Written Warning: Written warnings are corrective notices for minor, repeated violations; these notices have disciplinary relevance indefinitely on the offender's record.
Moderate Punishments (Research Supervisor+)
Mandated Retraining: Mandated retraining requires that the offender will go through a repeat of the Student Seminar and the Final Exam; this punishment may be issued for procedural violations. Mandated retraining must be completed before returning to duties; failing to complete retraining within two weeks from the date issued will result in demotion.
Suspension: Suspensions temporarily mandate one’s absence from all forms of official conduct. It may be issued for significant or repeated violations of procedure, conduct expectations, and other policies of the department and the Foundation. Suspensions have disciplinary relevance indefinitely on the offender's record.
Demotion: Demotions lower an individual’s rank. It may be issued for significant or repeated violations of procedure, conduct expectation, and other policies of the department and the Foundation. Demotions have disciplinary relevance indefinitely on the offender's record.
Severe Punishments (Board of Research+)
Rank Lock: The ability to become command in ScD will be removed from the offender. This may be temporary or permanent.
Exile: Removal from the Scientific Department; It may be issued for severe violations of policy or repeated violations that have not improved despite previous disciplinary action.
Blacklist: When a blacklist is issued, the offender may not reapply to the department. Blacklists may be temporary or permanent.
APPEALS
If a Scientific Department member wishes to appeal their departmental punishment, they will have to contact the Internal Tribunal Department via ticket.
